EVmatch and Verde Energy Efficiency Experts are excited to announce a new partnership to deploy more EV charging stations in the Chicago area. Below, the founder of Verde, Jamie Johnson, describes his company’s added focus on EV charging to complement their work in energy efficiency.
“Like the majority of businesses in 2020, my company was negatively impacted by Covid 19. While we survived as a business, our ability to sell our product was significantly impacted. We need to physically be in a space to see what we can recommend and install – which is commercial and public building energy efficiency upgrades.
We were fortunate to have a good pipeline of work committed, and we of course were grateful to receive the federal PPP loan to help us make it through the chasm of sales.
During the slower months of early summer, we were faced with a decision. Do we pay installers to stay home, or do we not pay them? Instead of either of those, we decided to offer training and resources around new technologies that we can install in 2021 to help build our team’s technical knowledge and our future revenue opportunities.
One of the products we have been exploring as a team is the EV charging station. Many of our clients in Chicago, especially property managers, have been requesting this technology. While we are still exploring this, the PPP loan gave us a chance to learn about the product, explore different partners, dive into spec sheets, and explore onsite opportunities.
EVmatch has been a great partnership opportunity for us, helping us both procure the best EV charging station and understand the value proposition to communicate to businesses. We see libraries in Chicagoland as a major opportunity since they have been most willing to invest in energy efficiency improvements as public-facing buildings. We are also excited to partner with some of our fast-food chain restaurants, helping them attract more business and potentially bring in some additional revenue.
We really push the Net Present Value of improvements to our clients. EVmatch will help us put together both more compelling and sizeable projects, which also include LED Lights, HVAC improvements, and solar PV installations.
We’re looking forward to 2021 as the year that transforms our business thanks to the investments we made in new technology training and partnerships in 2020.”
